March 4, 2024 – Traffic changes are coming on US 59, north of Lufkin, beginning next week.
Starting Sunday, March 10, crews will begin work to replace a culvert beneath US 59, just south of FM 2021. Traffic will be shifted from northbound lanes to form a two-lane traffic pattern in the southbound lanes, forming one lane for traffic in each direction.
Once work on the northbound side has been completed, traffic will be switched to southbound lanes, again forming two lanes of traffic, forming one lane of traffic in each direction. Work should take about a week on each side of US 59, weather permitting.
Motorists should obey all traffic control near this work zone. Signage is in place announcing the traffic shift. Reduce speed, stay alert and prepare for delays as this work is completed.
