Two Injured in Crash on CR 3140

October 15, 2019 - CR 3140 was the location of a single-vehicle major crash on October 13, 2019.

Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department (JVFD) firemen were just clearing the scene of a crash on State Highway 7 when they were alerted of the crash on CR 3140.

When emergency personnel arrived, two occupants remained in a pickup truck where the passenger was trapped. JVFD utilized Jaws of Life to help EMS personnel extricate him from the truck to an ambulance.

Once the driver was out of the truck it was determined he also needed an ambulance.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Keith Jones, at 1:44pm a blue 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Jeremiah William Gregg, 17, of Center was eastbound on CR 3140 at an unsafe speed. Gregg stated he took evasive action and swerved to miss a dog in the roadway.

Gregg lost control of the truck and struck a tree head-on with the right front. The impact caused injuries to Gregg and a 16-year-old male passenger.

The passenger was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, Gregg was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of his injuries.

Gregg was issued a citation for unsafe speed and violation of restriction B license front seat passenger 21 years or older. The 16-year-old passenger was also issued a citation for no seat belt.
