Two-Vehicle Crash Near Intersection of Tenaha, Hurst Street

March 11, 2022 - Tenaha Street in Center near the intersection of Hurst Street was the scene of a two-vehicle crash Friday, March 11, 2022.

When emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the crash, one vehicle remained in the roadway and the other had been parked in a nearby parking lot.

According to Center Police Officer Brian Wright, at around 1:20pm a black 2015 Dodge Challenger driven by Ingrido Balderas, 27, of Center was northbound on Tenaha Street after passing through the Hurst Street intersection. At that time a maroon 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Rodney Moore, 48, of Shelbyville was southbound on Tenaha Street.

The Chevrolet failed to yield right of way to the Dodge as Moore was attempted to enter the Taco Bell parking lot. Balderas attempted to avoid colliding with Moore; however, the Dodge struck the Chevrolet on the right rear quarter panel of the Chevrolet and caused damage to both vehicles.

Balderas was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for medical evaluation. No citations were issued at the time of the crash incident.

The Dodge was towed form the scene and the Chevrolet was able to be driven from the location. Center Police Officer Angela Neal assisted Officer Wright with his investigation and Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy William Denison assisted with traffic control.
