U.S. 96, CR 1015 Scene of Two-Vehicle Crash

May 6, 2025 - U.S. Highway 96 South at CR 1015 (Spann’s Chapel Road) was the scene of a major two-vehicle crash Sunday, May 4, 2025 at around 10:30pm.

When Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers arrived at the location of the crash incident, additional emergency personnel with the Center Fire Department (CFD) was requested for traffic control.

According to the Texas DPS, a grey 2019 Nissan Versa driven by Conda Hagler, 58, was southbound on U.S. Highway 96 when she turned right onto CR 1015 in attempts to make a u-turn and travel back in the direction of Center.

While making the u-turn, the Versa traveled into the path of a red 2019 Ford pickup truck driven by Kenneth Ebarb, 61, of Louisiana which was traveling southbound in the outside lane before striking the front left quarter panel of the Versa.

Both vehicles came to rest on the southbound side of the roadway.

Hagler was transported by ambulance to the Shelby Emergency Department for possible injury.

Ebarb was not reported to have been injured.

Hagler was cited for made U-turn on curve or hill.

In addition to the CFD, assisting at the scene were the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and San Augustine County Sheriff’s Department. The crash was investigated by Trooper Jordan Ford.
