U.S. Highway 59 Overpass in Tenaha Scene of Crash

October 19, 2015 - Emergency personnel was dispatched to a crash at the U.S. Highway 59 ramp in Tenaha on Monday, October 19, 2015.

Tenaha City Marshal's Office, Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department and Tenaha Constable Precinct 4 were first on scene followed by Shelby County Sheriff's Department officers and Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers. City Marshal Jimmy Wagstaff and Constable Bryan Gray positioned their vehicles at either end of a tractor-trailor which was laying in the middle of the roadway.

Firemen directed traffic from either end of the crash scene to prevent another crash and protect the other emergency personnel on scene.

According to City Marshal Wagstaff, at 4:40pm a red 2003 Kenworth hauling a trailer filled with rolls of newsprint paper driven by Jason Jones, 55, of Jamestown, Tn. was attempting to enter the overpass from U.S. Highway 59 South to 59 North.

As Jones entered the overpass, the load shifted and the tractor-trailer overturned. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash, and no citations have been issued at this time. As of 9:04pm, the roadway is clear.
