Vehicle Crashes in Creek on U.S. 84

November 15, 2016 - U.S. Highway 84 outside of Tenaha was the scene of a single-vehicle crash into a creek Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

According to Tenaha City Marshall Jimmy Wagstaff, at 9:15am a red 2003 Nissan Altima driven by Anna Segovia-Mendoza, 18, of Tenaha was westbound on U.S. Highway 84 through Paxton 4/10 of a mile west of FM 699. Segovia-Mendoza stated there was a bee inside of the car and when trying to roll a window down to prevent the bee from stinging her seven day old baby she lost control of the car.

The Nissan traveled off the roadway to the right and struck a mailbox as the car spun around and traveled in reverse back across the road and exited the highway again into a creek where the car landed on the rear, causing major damage and pivoting back around coming to rest on the other side of the creek facing west.

Segovia-Mendoza and her passengers Rosa Segovia, 26, and Flora Mendoza, 37, as well as the seven day old baby were all transported by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Center Emergency Department as a precaution and for treatment of injuries.
