This Week at Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Museum, Remember Rick Husband

July 15, 2015 - “Remembering Columbia: Remembering Rick Husband"

This week at the museum we want to remember our Astronauts from Columbia STS 107 and their summer birthdays. Rick Husband was born July 12, 1957 and was a United States Air Force Colonel, an astronaut, and the space shuttle commander of STS 107. Husband is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.

Also, Ilan Ramon, born Ilan Wolferman, was a fighter pilot and later the first Isreal astronaut for NASA. Ramon was the space shuttle payload specialist, and at 48 he was the oldest member of the crew. Ramon is the only foreign recipient of the United States Congressional Medal of honor. Which he was awarded posthumously.

This week we want to thank all of our visitors locally and out of state as well. We look forward to seeing you soon at the museum. There are so many things you can see here at the Museum that you will not see in any other Museum. We also have an amazing gift shop full of really cool gifts, such as 3D space puzzles, space suit back packs, inflatable space shuttles, NASA ties & golf balls, space ice cream and food too, coffee mugs and drinking glasses.

We also have a wide selection of shirts, hats and apparel. Not to mention all of the different books and memorabilia that we have as well. So come out today and get your personal tour and check out our gift shop and all that our museum has to offer. We look forward to a record breaking visitor attendance this summer. We are looking forward to many schools taking advantage of our Digital Learning Network that allows us to connect virtually with NASA.

Nasa can teach on lessons such as microgravity, food in space, erosion, weather, the solar system, robots, rovers, and so much more. Our hours at the museum are changing effective immediately. We will now be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
