This Week at The Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Museum

January 7, 2015 - We are having a gathering on February 1, 2016 to honor and remember all the astronauts, helicopter crew, search parties, and everyone who had a part in helping during this time. We are so thankful and lucky to have such a support group and wonderful following of the museum and all it stands for. We are looking forward to holding this event. It will be at 7:45 am and admission to the museum will be free all day. We are going to have breakfast and drinks for those who attend.

This Week At The Patricia Huffman Smith Nasa Museum: Essay Contest

December 14, 2015 - This week we are having a creative writing essay contest. All schools, including home schoolers, are encouraged to participate. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. The deadline for submitting your essay is December 18, 2015. The topic for the 7th grade is “Genetics and Heredity”. The topic should cover subjects such as studies that are being conducted now by astronauts on the International Space Station as to what effects is staying in space for long periods of time are having on the body.

November 17, 2015 - This week at the Museum we want to thank Todd Hellner for coming to the Museum to speak on behalf of NASA to several schools, including Martinsville, West Sabine, and Hemphill ISD. We also want to thank Michael Hare for connecting with us from NASA virtually in our classroom with these students. We look forward to many more events like this happening at the Museum and we hope that you and or your school can participate.

August 27, 2015 - This week at the museum we hope you had a wonderful summer and are enjoying the beginning of school year. We are looking forward and hoping that your classes will be able to schedule and attend many digital learning network events this school year. You can just contact me, Becca, here at the museum and we can get everything set up according to what you are learning in class or if you just want to see what NASA has going on. Whatever the case we will do our best to accommodate.

12 Year Anniversary of Columbia STS 107

January 7, 2015 - On February 1, 2015 at 7:45 AM the museum will have a release of balloons for all the lives lost during the Disaster and Recovery of Columbia STS 107. The Museum will have free admission all day and have drinks and snacks for those who attend. We look forward to seeing you that morning to Remember STS 107 and her crew. Commander Rick Husband recited a verse to his crew before they lifted off and it was the same verse Brother Fred would read with each discovery.
