West Shelby County VFD Reports on 4 Recent Calls

April 18, 2023 - The West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) responded to four calls from April 7 through April 16.

The first of which was a single vehicle accident on April 7th at 8:18pm when a service van trying to dodge a deer ran off of the road. The van landed on its side and fortunately no one was harmed.

The next call was on the 10th of April at 3:14pm when a FedEx truck rolled over on FM 711 near CR 1281. The driver was initially pinned in the vehicle but was able to get out before responders could arrive on scene. Along with the Center Fire Department, the scene was secured and held until the truck could be removed and the roadway cleared.

On the 11th of April, WSCVFD responded to a medical call on FM 711 where EMS requested assistance gaining access to a home where an individual had fallen and required medical assistance. Responders got the door open and helped EMS.

Finally, on April 16th at 10:14pm firefighters were dispatched to a call of a transformer on fire at on FM 2913. Responders arrived at the scene and checked for any fire caused when Deep East Texas Electric Coop arrived and checked for any issues and cleared the scene.

Also, on a different note, WSCVFD will be having a fundraiser at the Ivan Smith Furniture parking lot on April 29th at 11am until sold out.
