April 18, 2023 - The West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) responded to four calls from April 7 through April 16.
The first of which was a single vehicle accident on April 7th at 8:18pm when a service van trying to dodge a deer ran off of the road. The van landed on its side and fortunately no one was harmed.
April 17, 2023 - The West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department will have a BBQ Chicken Fundraiser on Saturday, April 29th starting at 11am until sold out in the Ivan Smith Furniture Parking lot near the sign. Plates include leg quarter, potato salad, baked beans, and a dessert for $12. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will go towards updating equipment and purchasing new equipment as well. Canopies will be setup where you can sit and visit with us, ask questions, and meet members of the department.
February 9, 2023 - West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) had three calls lately outside of those worked with Center Fire Department.
There was a crash on Highway 7 on the downhill side of Mcswain Hill January 28 at 7:30pm where a dead tree fell across the road and a gray GMC collided with the tree. There were no injuries but the truck was towed away.
WSCVFD provided traffic control for a vehicle stuck in the ditch on Highway 7 February 2 near Aiken after one of the many rain storms we’ve had recently.
January 2, 2023 - West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) had a single vehicle crash on State Highway 7 West on the night of Friday December 30, 2022.
December 27, 2022 - West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) reports having had five call outs over that past week.
The first of these was an 18-wheeler which broke down in front of Excelsior School on the night of the 22nd of December. WSCVFD provided traffic control until it could be cleared.
The same night as the 18-Wheeler a tree fell across all four lanes of traffic at Highway 7 and County Road 1180, the WSCVFD responders cleared the roadway.
November 21, 2022 - West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) reports they responded to a vehicle fire on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 on FM 711.
