WSCVFD Reports Fire Department Activity for Past Week

December 27, 2022 - West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) reports having had five call outs over that past week.

The first of these was an 18-wheeler which broke down in front of Excelsior School on the night of the 22nd of December. WSCVFD provided traffic control until it could be cleared.

The same night as the 18-Wheeler a tree fell across all four lanes of traffic at Highway 7 and County Road 1180, the WSCVFD responders cleared the roadway.

On the night of December the 23rd there was a vehicle fire caused by a blown tire on Highway 7 near CR 1240. Fire personnel responded and extinguished the fire and waited for the vehicle to be removed from the roadway.

On the night of Christmas there was a report of a transformer sparking near the intersection of FM 711 and CR 1273. WSCVFD personnel secured the area until REA arrived to fix the problem.

There was a woods fire at 996 County Road 1273 on the night of December 26th. Someone set a fire at a brush pile and it got out of control. WSCVFD responded and put out the fire and made sure it was secured.
