Women’s History Month - Solute to All Women Teachers

March 27, 2024 - March has been full of advertisements for National Women’s History Month. What does that mean? It means that this is the month of the year that women who have made history around the world are recognized and celebrated. It is observed annually in the U. S. since the late 80s. Having started as a week of celebration for women, women in communities, school districts, and organizations desired an expansion to an entire month. The month of March eventually became a designated month of celebration.

Did you know there are many more women teachers working in schools now than men. These women deserve praises for their service, and many are recognized during this month. They went to school receiving bachelors and masters degrees in education. Some women hold Doctoral (PhD) degrees that could get them into higher administration at the schools’ districts or working on the college/university level.

Women teachers can serve as role models to their students and have a dual role as the backbone of the family in their homes while working on jobs outside of the home. They are the caregivers of their family in need of assistance with health issues. Women definitely are to be recognized this month with accolades to the achievements they have accomplished in education. We know many in the community who had the courage to become educators and remain until retirement.

Happy National Women’s History Month!
