Woodlawn, a Limited Release Movie, Showing at the Rio Theatre

November 6, 2015 - The Rio Theatre will be hosting Woodlawn, a limited release Christian movie about a football team who overcomes diversity together, starting Friday, November 6th and running through Tuesday, November 10th. A special Sunday Matinee will show on November 8th at 2pm to allow any football players or athletes who which to see the show an opportunity without conflicting with school and sports.

Box office opens at 7:00pm nightly and at 1:30pm for the Sunday matinee. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for children.

Woodlawn is a 2015 American Christian sports drama film directed by The Erwin Brothers, Andrew and Jon Erwin.

The film is based on the true story of Tony Nathan who was a gifted high school football player and other black students who were thrown into a world of turmoil when Woodlawn High School undergoes desegregation. Hank, an outsider, speaks to the team about a better way through following Jesus giving them hope. Nearly the entire team, black and white, give their lives over to Jesus Christ.

Woodlawn stars Sean Astin, Nic Bishop, Caleb Castille, Sherri Shepherd, Jon Voight and C. Thomas Howell. It was produced by Kevin Downes, Provident Films and Pure Flix Entertainment and was released on October 16, 2015.
