Woodmen Life Chapter 250 Installs Officers; Presents $1,000 Donation

January 19, 2016 - The 2016 Woodmen Life Chapter 250 officers were installed during the annual officer installation dinner held Monday, January 18th. New officers were sworn in by Chris Beckendorff, WoodmenLife Community Outreach Manager. The new officers are Ellen Manning - President, Venorah McSwain - Vice-President, Joyce Hurt - Secretary, Ashton Askew - Treasurer, Cecilia Boles - Musician, Walter Manning - Sergeant at Arms, Rhonda Patterson - Trustee, Peaches Conway - Trustee, and Norman Hurt - Trustee.

The donation of $1,000 was accepted by Jheri-Lynn McSwain, AgriLife County Extension Agent (CEA) and Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) for Shelby County.

The project will provide an opportunity for Shelby County civic organizations and youth needing to complete community service hours to learn general horticultural practices while providing fresh produce to local food banks. A Result Demonstration Garden will be established and maintained which will allow visitors to learn about vegetables and plants that grow well in Deep East Texas.
