May 29, 2015 - Hurst Street and Arcadia Road (FM 138) in Center was the scene of a two-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2015 which resulted in injuries to one driver involved.
At 4pm Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Derek Barbee was first to arrive on scene followed by the Center Police Department and Center Fire Department. Upon arrival both vehicles were located at opposite corners of the Hurst Street intersection with their drivers still inside.
April 9, 2015 - Children's advocacy groups as well as local volunteers and residents gathered on the Center square Thursday, April 2, 2015 to decorate the Blue Ribbon Tree in remembrance of those children who have been victims of abuse for the past year.

April 8, 2015 - Members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #282 and Texas Society Order of the Confederate Rose, Roses of the Attoyac #60, gathered in Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison's office on Monday, April 6, 2015 as she signed a proclamation designating April 2015 as "Confederate History and Heritage Month."

April 2, 2015 - Officers with the Center Police Department SWAT team recently converged on a house located on Daniels Street in Center and they had weeds in mind, yard weeds to be correct. The off-duty officers took to performing lawn duties with lawn mowers, rakes and trimmers to help knock back a lot of growth in a lawn that was in need of some care.
April 4, 2015 - Ace Hardware of East Texas held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, April 2, 2015 to introduce their new Garden center at their location on Tenaha Street in Center.
March 30, 2015 - Two travelers from Idaho have arrived in Shelby County and are in search of some family history. Harold and Linda Craft of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho stopped by Shelby County Today in search of information about Mattie Mitchell and any other people in the area who may have been ancestors by the names of McGee, Mitchell and English.
