May 2, 2024 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed an investigation into the death of a man on U.S. Highway 59 (U.S. 59) near Tenaha on Sunday, April 28, 2024, and has provided a summary of their findings.
Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers were dispatched to the location on U.S. 59 between Tenaha and the Panola County line for a welfare check in reference to a person laying on the side of the road sometime before 9pm.
May 1, 2024 - The Shelby County Commissioners took further action Wednesday, May 1, 2024, to move forward with purchase of haul trucks using ARPA funds.

April 23, 2024 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 30 indictments on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The grand jury was impaneled for the January 2024 term of the 123rd/273rd Judicial District Courts.
Tiffany Lee Parker was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, state jail felony. The indictment alleges, on January 25, 2024, operated a Chevrolet Colorado truck without the effective consent of Adrian Gomez, the owner. (123rd Judicial District Court)
April 23, 2024 - As of 3:15pm the gas has been shut off and residents businesses have been allowed back in. Gas service to buildings will remain off for several hours until repairs are completed.
