October 17, 2019 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) launched the iWatchTexas mobile application (app) on June 8, 2018, which the public can use to report suspicious activities or behaviors that may indicate ongoing or future criminal or terrorist activity.
August 28, 2023 – As Labor Day approaches, TxDOT is reminding all Texans about the dangers of drunk driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced an increased enforcement period from Aug. 18 to Sept. 4. Texas law enforcement agencies are among those that will increase their efforts to pull over motorists suspected of drunk driving.
August 26, 2019 – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a one vehicle fatal crash on SH 7, about twelve miles west of Center, on August 25, 2019.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 3:15am, a 2008 Ford pickup was traveling east when the pickup drove off the roadway to the right and struck a tree before overturning. The driver is identified as 28-year-old Julio Vazquez from Center, TX.
July 28, 2019 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a fatal crash yesterday morning, July 27, 2019 on US 59 involving a commercial motor vehicle, about one and a half miles north of Timpson.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 11:45 a.m., a 2008 Ford passenger car was traveling north in the outside lane. A 2016 Volvo truck tractor semi-trailer was also traveling north in the outside lane and failed to control speed and struck the Ford from behind.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently investigating a two-vehicle crash on US 96, about five miles south of Center.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 5:45am, a 2012 GMC pickup was traveling north on US 96. For unknown reasons the driver of the pickup drove over into the southbound lanes and struck the side of a 2012 Peterbilt truck-tractor semi-trailer. The truck-tractor semi-trailer then drove off the roadway and overturned; spilling diesel fuel and then catching fire.
December 15, 2018 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two-vehicle crash last night, about one half mile west of Joaquin, involving a commercial motor vehicle.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 9pm, a 1999 Chevrolet pickup turned right onto US 84 from FM 2428 to travel east. The driver of the pickup reportedly drove over into the westbound lane of US 84 and struck a 2019 Mack truck-tractor semi-trailer head-on.
November 4, 2018 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a one-vehicle crash early this morning on SH 147, about three miles south of San Augustine.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 2014 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling north on SH 147. The driver was reportedly traveling at an unsafe speed when the vehicle drove off the roadway to the right, overcorrected to the left and crossed back over the roadway to the left and struck a tree.
