March 25, 2021 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash last night on SH 7, about eight miles east of Nacogdoches.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 6:40 p.m., a 2017 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling west. A 2020 Buick SUV was traveling east. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Chevrolet drove over into the eastbound lane and struck the Buick head-on.
January 15, 2021 – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a two-vehicle major crash this morning on US 59, about three miles north of Appleby on January 15.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 3:30am, a 2011 Chevrolet SUV was traveling south and a 2017 Nissan passenger car was traveling north. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Chevrolet drove into the northbound lanes and struck the Nissan head-on.
October 27, 2020 - Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 59, approximately 2.5 miles north of the city of Garrison in Rusk County at 7:15am this morning, October 27.
The investigators preliminary report indicates that the driver of a 2020 Kenworth towing a semi-trailer was traveling north on US 59 in the outside lane of traffic slowing to turn right into a private drive. At the same time, the driver of a 2006 Freightliner truck towing a trailer was also traveling north on US 59 and struck the rear of the trailer the Kenworth was towing.
July 13, 2020 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a one-vehicle crash on County Road 3853, about five and one half miles southwest of Joaquin on July 11, 2020.
The preliminary crash information indicates at approximately 9 p.m., a 1975 Jeep CJ5 was traveling west when the vehicle drove off the roadway to the left where it struck an embankment before overturning; ejecting the driver and passenger.
The driver is identified as Alfredo Ramirez, 17, from Center. Ramirez was not reportedly injured during the crash.
May 9, 2020 - FM 139 near CR 2536 was the scene of a crash incident that resulted in the death of a Center man late Friday, May 8, 2020.
According to information released from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash last night on FM 139, about three tenths of a mile north of County Road 2536. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 11:15pm, a 2003 Chevrolet SUV driven by Joseph Williams was traveling south on FM 139.
April 24, 2020 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding motorists that April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and during the rest of the month and throughout the year, it’s important for all drivers to reduce distractions every time they get behind the wheel.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, there were more than 96,000 crashes involving distracted driving in 2018, and these crashes led to more than 2,300 serious injuries and over 390 deaths.
March 17, 2020 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is continuing their enforcement efforts across the state focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. These periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in March. One of those operations will take place in the Beaumont District throughout the day on Wednesday, April 15. The Department of Transportation will be participating in a non-enforcement capacity.

August 30, 2019 - As we head towards the unofficial end of summer this weekend, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) wants to remind all drivers to be safe on the road and exercise caution as holiday travel ramps up for Labor Day.
The Texas Highway Patrol will be increasing enforcement starting today, Friday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 2. Troopers will be looking for drivers who violate the law, including those not adhering to the Move Over, Slow Down law, failing to wear seat belts, speeding and driving while intoxicated, among other traffic violations.
August 26, 2019 – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a one vehicle fatal crash on SH 7, about twelve miles west of Center, on August 25, 2019.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 3:15am, a 2008 Ford pickup was traveling east when the pickup drove off the roadway to the right and struck a tree before overturning. The driver is identified as 28-year-old Julio Vazquez from Center, TX.
