February 3, 2025 - Three students whose hometown is Center, Texas are listed on the Sam Houston State University Dean’s List for the Fall of 2024..

The university recognizes the following local students for earning the honor for the Fall 2024 semester: Jasmine Cooks, Alfredo Maldonado Benav, and Jalen Postell.

May 30, 2024 - Three area students from Shelby County received degrees during the 2024 Spring semester at Sam Houston State University.

Alexus Ceasar-Walker of Center earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Chemistry. Geneva Pritchett of Center earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Christian Berry of Timpson earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting.

January 30, 2024 - Three area students received degrees during the 2023 Fall semester at Sam Houston State University.

Christopher Byndom, a 2019 graduate of Center High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

Raylee Wilburn, a 2020 graduate of Center High school, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Mallory Permenter, a 2020 graduate of Shelbyville High School and from Joaquin, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

June 21, 2023 - The students listed on the President's Honor Roll at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, are undergraduates who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.
