Notice of Public Hearing on Shelby County Appraisal District Budget

June 23, 2020 - The Shelby County Appraisal District will hold a public hearing on their proposed budget for the 2021 fiscal year.
 
The public hearing will be held on July 7, 2020 at 5:30pm at the appraisal district office, 724 Shelbyville Street, Center, Texas.

A summary of the appraisal district budget follows:

2020 Proposed Budget: $728,228
Increase over current budget: $35,311
Employees compensated under current budget: 7

Shelby County Appraisal District Closes Doors, Offers Online Options

March 19, 2020 - In an effort to do our part in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Shelby County Appraisal District will close their doors to the public starting Monday, March 23, 2020 until further notice.

Our staff will still be here to answer phones at (936) 598-6171. You may also correspond with us via fax at (936) 598-7096 or email at scad@sbcglobal.net.

Shelby County Appraisal District Notice Concerning COVID-19

March 18, 2020 - Like you, the Shelby County Appraisal District is closely monitoring the developments related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). In an effort to do our part in preventing the spread of this virus, the Shelby County Appraisal District is asking everyone that has business to do with us to call our office before coming in person. We may be able to help you over the phone. If we can’t help you over the phone, it may be something that can wait, like turning in applications for exemptions. Then we would ask you to come to the office at a later time.

Shelby County Appraisal District Reminds Businesses to Render Their Taxable Property by April 15th

March 10, 2020 - If you own tangible personal property that is used to produce income, then a rendition must be filed with the Shelby County Appraisal District by April 15th. Property owners who need more time to file their renditions may file a written request with the chief appraiser on or before April 15th to receive an automatic extension to May 15th or the next business day. The chief appraiser may also grant an additional 15 days after the postponed deadline, if necessary.

February 14, 2020 - Did you receive a letter in the mail about paying a fee to get your Homestead Exemption?

• The Shelby County Appraisal District is the only entity that can add any property tax exemptions to your property.
• There is NEVER a fee to apply for an exemption.

Shelby County Appraisal District Depository Bids Public Notice

December 9, 2019 - The Shelby County Appraisal District hereby gives notice that it will enter into a contract for a district depository as required by law. Any banking corporation, association orindividual banker in Shelby County, Texas is invited to submit an application for such depository by December 31, 2019. Bids may  be submitted to Robert N.
