August 28, 2017 - Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is currently and has been monitoring Tropical Storm Harvey for the past several days, as well as preparing for the storm’s possible movement across the DETEC Service Area.
DETEC linemen are currently responding to outages and contractors are ready to respond if needed.
With the current rainfall levels increasing and the continued forecasted rain over the next few days, please understand that restoration efforts may be slowed considerably to ensure the safety of our lineman and contractors.
May 29, 2017 - As of 4 PM, DETEC is reporting approximately 1,050 meters remaining without power. Crews continue to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.
As of 9 AM, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 3,500 meters without power after yesterday's storm. The majority of these outages are in Nacogdoches and Shelby County. DETEC crews along with neighboring Cooperatives and contractors will continue to work until all power is restored.
July 28, 2016 - Following a storm blowing in shortly after 3:30pm Thursday, July 28th, electric outages began happening around the county.
Many areas have all ready had power restored and as of 6:30 PM, DETEC is reporting approximately 100 meters out due to the weather with the majority of these being in the Shelby (Joaquin) and San Augustine County area.
Crews are working to restore all power as quickly and as safely as possibly.

July 27, 2016 - Each year, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative joins eight other east Texas cooperatives in sponsoring the East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar (ETREYS). On June 27th – July 1st, approximately 120 students attended the camp at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX. This year, Deep East Texas was well represented by 10 students from the DETEC service area.
May 27, 2016 - (Update) - As of 7am, Saturday, May 28, 2016 Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 7,400 meters without power.
DETEC and contract crews will continue to work until all power is restored. If you have medical needs that require electricity, it is recommended that you secure alternative shelter with power.
Update: As of 12:45 pm, DETEC is now reporting less than 10 meters out. We thank you for your patience and commend crews for their perseverance. Crews will continue to work to access the remaining outages to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.
