July 25, 2018 - The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Texas and their local Soil and Water Conservation Districts cordially invite the public to attend their FY19 Local Working Group (LWG) meetings. 

The purpose of this annual LWG meeting is to set local conservation priorities and bring conservation stakeholders together to discuss conservation topics and issues relevant to helping their farmers and ranchers better conserve on-farm natural resources.  

June 2, 2017 - This year the Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District will be awarding a $1,000 scholar-ship. The scholarship recipient will receive $500 for the fall 2017 semester and another $500 for the spring 2018 semester. The Shelby SWCD Scholarship is open to college students who are working toward a degree in the natural resources or agricultural field. We will be looking at individuals who meet the following qualifications:

September 25, 2015 -  The Texas State Soil & Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB) and the Association of Texas Soil & Water Conservation Districts (ATSWCD) are sponsoring a poster contest (open to students 12 years and under, and does not jeopardize Texas University Interscholastic League eligibility).

The contest is open to public, private, or home school students. Posters should address the following subject for 2016: “Local Heroes – Your Hardworking Pollinators”.

April 23, 2015 - Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District Natural Resources/Agriculture Scholarship Award
