March 15, 2022 - Self Defense America held a grappling seminar on Saturday. The seminar was held to prepare the students for a tournament to be held in Shreveport.
March 15, 2022 - Students at Self Defense America in Center TX come from surrounding communities. Students are required to learn a set of techniques in striking, blocking, kicking, proper stances, Self Defense and forms (Kata). Each passed their exam and received their new techniques, forms, certification and new belt.
January 11, 2021 - Self Defense America will be closed Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 due to road conditions. We do not want to risk our students safety. We will reopen Tuesday at 2 pm
January 7, 2021 - On November 7, 2020 Self Defense America held a Black Belt Exam. These are held separately from color belts due to the length (5 Hours) of the exam. We cover from white belt all the way to their current belt level, they have to demonstrate all kicks, strikes, blocks, stances, self defense, stick techniques, terminology, board breaks and brick breaks and also have a written part to the exam.
January 7, 2021 - Taekwondo students at Self Defense America tested for new ranks. At the exam students are tested on their knowledge and skills. Once they have successfully completed the exam they received new strikes, blocks, kicks, stances, terminology and self defense.
January 4, 2021 - On October 31, 2020 The Lil' Dragons at Self Defense America tested for new ranks. Theses students performed strikes, blocks, kicks and board breaks to move to their next ranks. We are pleased with their progress.

March 4, 2020 - Self Defense America attended the Louisiana Governor's Games in Shreveport, LA on February 29, 2020 in the Shreveport Convention Center. Ten students went and competed to test their skills. Everyone worked real hard and came back with a total of five 1st place trophies and numerous medals. The event had several categories which were: Forms (Kata), Kumate (Sparring), Weapons, Chanbara (sword fighting) and Grappling.

October 2, 2019 - The Battle of the Pineywoods Event was held in Lufkin, Texas on September 7, 2019. This was an Texas Amateur Organization of Karate (A.O.K.) qualifying event for the 2019 Texas Champions.
