Juvenile Probation Dept. Gives Thanks to Sponsor of Motivational Speaker

May 7, 2019 - Special thank you to the Shelby County Juvenile Board and the Commissioner's Court for allowing the Juvenile Probation Dept. to host Motivational Speaker Damon West. Also special thanks to Farmer's State Bank, First National Bank, Jake Matthews-Matthews Cattle, Hallmark, Lenola Bolton-Wyatt, Mattauer Law Firm, and Shelby Savings Bank! These sponsors provided a total of 80 copies of Mr. West's book "The Change Agent" to be won by Shelby County students.

Mt. Zion CME Church Celebrates Black History

February 21, 2019 - Mt. Zion CME Church celebrates with a Black History Program to be held on Sunday, February 24th at 3pm. Special guests are Brenda Wimberly and Jonathan Fountain of Shreveport, LA, Alex Cloudy, Jalen Hubbard, Jeremy Small, Christy Byndom, and others. Please join us as the psalmist ministers old Negro Spirituals and hear poems and great young speakers. Rev. Richard Edwards, Pastor. Myrtis McClelland, Program Chairperson.

Annual MLK Day Celebration Set for Jan 21st

January 21, 2019 - The annual MLK Day Celebration will be Monday, January 21st. There will be a parade beginning at 4pm on the downtown Center Square. Participants will start lining up at 3:30pm. The participants will exit the center of the square in front of the adult probation department and make a 1/4 circle around the square and turn right onto Shelbyville Street. Will proceed down Shelbyville Street and turn right on Martin Luther King Drive and proceed all the way to the Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church where there will be a program.
