TxDOT Work Scheduled on SH 21 East

March 7, 2024 - Motorists traveling SH 21 East in Nacogdoches County will travel through a work zone beginning next week as crews work to mill and inlay sections of the roadway.

Beginning Monday, March 11, 2024 crews will begin work on SH 21 East from the intersection of FM 95 and continue for 2 miles west. This work will include traffic control and motorists should expect delays and lane closures through this section of roadway.

Transportation Commission Approves New Projects

December 13, 2023 - Texas Transportation Commissioners met Tuesday in Austin and approved more than $850 million in new construction projects statewide, with $11.1 million approved for the nine-county Lufkin District.

Trinity County was approved for a $9 million project that is earmarked for road resurfacing on US 287 from SH 94 to FM 355. Texas Materials Group, Inc., Cedar Park, TX, will serve as contractor for the project. No timeline for completion has been set.

Lufkin District Prepares For Hurricane Season

June 9, 2023 - Lufkin District leaders met Thursday for the 2023 hurricane preparation meeting in the Lufkin District office and set a plan in place should a hurricane impact the Lufkin District.

District supervisors and other leaders from the nine-county district met to discuss storm preparations, response, contra-flow lanes, evacuation routes and clean-up response which will include shift work, if necessary. Also discussed was clearing ditches and culverts, inspecting roadways and preparing equipment and trucks ahead of possible storms.

‘Save Me With a Seat’ campaign, which kicks off National Child Passenger Safety Week, urges parents to give car seats a check  

September 24, 2021 – A high-speed vehicle crash and a misused child car seat can lead to an unthinkable disaster, which is why TxDOT is encouraging parents to schedule a free car seat safety check during its annual “Save Me With a Seat” campaign.
