May 31, 2023 - Federal Student Aid (FSA) is changing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-25 academic year. The start date for the 2024-25 FAFSA will be delayed due to the complexity of simplifying the FAFSA. The 2024-25 FAFSA will become available in December 2023 instead of October 1, 2023. While school buildings remain closed to normal in-classroom instruction for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, schools across the state are seeking to provide graduation ceremonies so they can properly celebrate the Class of 2020.
June 20, 2019 Austin - The Texas Education Agency (TEA) June 14, 2019 released results for the 2019 spring administration of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test. Results for high school end of course assessments were particularly strong, with gains in all subjects compared to 2018.
March 25, 2019 Austin, Texas – Commissioner of Education Mike Morath announced today that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas Early Learning Council are conducting a statewide birth-five needs assessment to better understand the needs of those accessing, providing, and supporting early childhood programs and services for children ages birth to five.
As part of this needs assessment, the Council is conducting a statewide survey from March 25 through April 5, 2019.
