September 1, 2022 – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) encourages everyone to drive safely as they celebrate the unofficial end of summer over the Labor Day weekend. In an effort to reduce crashes, the Texas Highway Patrol will be increasing enforcement from Sept. 2 through Sept. 5, looking for people not wearing their seat belts, speeders, people driving while intoxicated and drivers who fail to follow the state’s Move Over, Slow Down law, among other traffic violations.
July 15, 2022 - The Texas Department of Public Safety is hosting a Recruitment and Testing Session starting at 8am on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Lufkin DPS Office, located at 2809 S. John Redditt Drive.
March 11, 2022 – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will increase its presence on the roads to ensure highways are safe as part of a spring break enforcement campaign. From March 12 through March 20, the Texas Highway Patrol will be out looking for people who are violating traffic laws as part of Operation CARE (Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort). The Operation will include St. Patrick’s Day.
August 17, 2021 – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding motorists the department is continuing its enforcement efforts across Texas focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. These periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in August. One of those operations will take place in the Southeast Texas Region throughout the day on Wednesday, August 18.
May 1, 2021 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated an auto-pedestrian crash early this morning on SH 7, about two miles east of Nacogdoches.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 1:25 a.m., a pedestrian was reportedly struck in the westbound lanes of SH 7. The driver that struck the pedestrian failed to stop at the scene of the crash and has not been located.
July 14, 2020 – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding motorists during the summer months that the department is continuing its enforcement efforts across Texas focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. These periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in July. One of those operations will take place in the Lufkin area throughout the day on Wednesday, July 15.
February 19, 2020 – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is continuing their enforcement efforts across the state focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. These periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in February. One of those operations will take place in the Beaumont District throughout the day on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The Department of Transportation will be participating in a non-enforcement capacity.
