December 17, 2019 Lufkin – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is continuing their enforcement efforts across the state focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. These periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in December. One of those operations will take place in Beaumont District throughout the day on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The Department of Transportation will be participating in a non-enforcement capacity.

March 20, 2018 Lufkin – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is beginning enforcement efforts across the state focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. These periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in March. One of those operations will take place in Angelina County on Wednesday, March 21, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The DPS-led task force includes the Texas Department of Transportation.
December 12, 2016 San Augustine County - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers responded to a hit and run auto-pedestrian fatality crash on FM 83 about 3 miles East of Broaddus on December 11, at approximately 7:21 p.m.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates a passing motorist notified law enforcement of the apparent crash.
Investigators continue to investigate the collision and are working to locate the vehicle and identify the operator.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old David Neal Jacks from Broaddus, TX.
October 18, 2016 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is joining the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) during National Teen Driver Safety Week (Oct. 16-22) to urge young drivers to put safety first when behind the wheel.
October 17, 2016 – In conjunction with National School Bus Safety Week (Oct. 17-21), the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is urging drivers to comply with laws prohibiting the passing of school buses. During this period, DPS Highway Patrol troopers will be watching for drivers who violate the law and taking the appropriate enforcement action. It is illegal to pass any school bus that is stopped and operating a visual signal – either flashing red lights or a stop sign.
September 17, 2016 - As the General Election approaches, Election Identification Certificates (EICs) – one form of identification that can be used for voting purposes – will be available for FREE at mobile stations in San Augustine County for eligible Texans.
