Sam Houston State University Announces Spring 2023 President's List

June 21, 2023 - The students listed on the President's Honor Roll at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, are undergraduates who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.

The university would like to recognize Christian Berry, Timpson, for earning the honor for the Spring 2023 semester.

Piney Woods Photographic Society June Challenger Winners

June 21, 2023 - The Piney Woods Photographic Society held their June meeting this past Saturday. The workshop was on Night Photography and the June Challenge was Architecture/Cityscapes. Members submitted up to three photos to this challenge for Favorite votes and discussions. The challenge favorite was a really tough one, since there was a 3 way tie for 1st Place favorite. The First Place favorites are: "Window Shopping" by Bobbie Jean Wood, "On the Corner" by Billie Haggard Jones and "Jordan 2023" by Lawrence Davis.

1885 Courthouse Closes This Week

June 8, 2023 - The Shelby County Historic 1885 Courthouse will be closed today and tomorrow, June 8-9 due to air conditioning repairs. Plans are to reopen for tours on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

The Historic 1885 Courthouse will be close for a private event on Friday, June 23, 2023.

Martheaus Perkins Graduates Summa Cum Laude from SFA

June 6, 2023 - Martheaus Perkins of Nacogdoches, a 2020 Center High School graduate, graduated from SFA on May 5th at 6pm as a Summa Cum Laude University Scholar with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal and Applied Arts.

Perkins was recognized for outstanding academic achievements by being named to SFA University’s President’s Honor Roll for the fall 2022 semester. Perkins was one of 923 students named to the President’s Honor Roll.
