June 18, 2026 - This is a reminder that June is hunger Awareness month in Shelby County. Many people in our community struggle with food insecurity. Shelby County Outreach Ministries and the Senior Nutrition Site are seeking donations of canned food, non-perishable items, and monetary contributions to support local residents in need.

Food donations can be dropped off at two locations:

- Shelby County Outreach Ministries: 930 Shelbyville Street, Center, TX 75935
- Senior Nutrition Site: 124 Haley Drive, Center, TX 75935

June 16, 2026 - The University of Texas at Tyler announced the students who were named to the spring 2026 Dean's List which included two Shelby County students. The two students are Rena Clark, Center, College of Arts & Sciences; and Chezni Dominguez, Tenaha, School of Nursing.

To qualify for the university Dean’s List, a student must have completed 12 or more credit hours of undergraduate college-level credit in the awarding term with a grade point average of at least 3.75.

June 14, 2026 - VFW Post 8904 and community members gathered at the Senior Nutrition Site in Center on June 12, 2026, in honor of Flag Day.

Many who were attending the Senior Nutrition Site stepped outside to join in the program.

June 10, 2026 - In recognition of June being National Safety month, Walmart in Center held a Safety Day event in the garden center.

June 5, 2026 - Center Garden Club members participated in their annual plant sale on the Center square June 5, 2026.

They had all variety of plants available for purchase and were there for the early half of the day.
