U.S. Forest Service Officials Urge Hunters to Use Caution in The Woods

November 6, 2020 - As gun deer hunting season begins, U.S. Forest Service officials remind hunters of guidelines designed to make their hunting trips to national forests safe and enjoyable while sustaining the health of the forests.

“Hunting season is one of the busiest times in the forest, and safety is always a primary concern,” said Forest Supervisor Eddie Taylor. “Visitors should check their surroundings and be aware of the possibility of falling limbs or trees. Remember, being in the woods is great, but you are responsible for your own safety.”

More than $7 Billion Paid in Second Round of USDA Coronavirus Food Assistance Program

November 5, 2020 – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced that in the first month of the application period, the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) approved more than $7 billion in payments to producers in the second round of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. CFAP 2 provides agricultural producers with financial assistance to help absorb some of the increased marketing costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The iconic predecessor to our present-day State Fair of Texas drew crowds from across the state. A rival fair, the Dallas exposition, opened around the same time and together they welcomed over 35,000 people. Both fairs were successful and, ultimately, decided to combine efforts in 1887 to establish the State Fair of Texas as we know it today.

Timpson Council Remains Cautious Over Sidewalk Repairs

October 29, 2020 - The Timpson City Council agreed to move forward with planning for work on the sidewalk at the corner of Austin and Bremond Streets during their meeting October 26, 2020; however, their decision didn't exactly align with the approval of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) decision.

Immediately following the completion of the EDC meeting, the Timpson City Council convened and Mayor Debra Smith informed the council of the EDC decision to move forward with Cox Contractors handling the project at an expected possible cost of $38,000.
