Septmber 10, 2015 - Gates Chapel Baptist Church of Shelbyville will host a Helping Hand Benefit Program for Sis. Ira Dean Lister who lost her home in a fire. The musical benefit program will be held onSaturday, September 19 at 7pm. All choirs, groups, praise dancers and soloist are invited to perform. September 9, 2015 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce announces the 39th East Texas Poultry Festival, presented by Farmers State Bank, will kick-off Wednesday, September 23rd with several events, including the Chicken Fajita Lunch, the Doo-Dah Parade and the Chicken Cooking Contest. These events usher in the season prior to the Festival opening Thursday, October 1st.

September 9, 2015 - A truck fire ignited at a residence off FM 138 on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 and the West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSVFD) was dispatched to the scene at 1:40pm.

September 7, 2015 - The Timpson Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD) was dispatched to 559 Third Street in Timpson in reference to a vehicle fire on Friday, September 4, 2015.

September 4, 2015 - The Texas Department of State Health Services is urging people to follow national guidance issued today not to eat recalled cucumbers that may be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacteria that can make people sick.

The guidance was issued in connection with a multi-state Salmonella Poona outbreak that appears to be linked to imported cucumbers from Mexico distributed by Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce, a California company.
