Center Garden Club Hosts Annual Garden Show at Community House

April 20, 2015 (Album 1, Album 2) - Center Garden Club held their annual flower show at the Community House in Center on Friday, April 17, 2015. Plants covered the building with entries from garden club members and Center Elementary School students.

Youth Award winner during the flower show was Julie Bird, Center Elementary School 3rd Grader.The Center Ecoteers, 3rd Grade Class, Center Elementary School featured exhibit was "Touch of Class." The students each had their own arrangements and posed proudly by their finished product for Shelby County Today to photograph. The Youth Award of the exhibit as well as a blue ribbon was presented to Julie Bird. Each of the other participants also received blue ribbons and those students are as follow: Ashlyn Wall; Riley Wall; Ava Flores; Brannon Denby; Braylon Gandy; Colby Lout; Reese Cockrell; Sayre Hall; and Damien Horton.

The Horticulture Sweepstakes Award for having 45 1st place presentations in horticulture entries was given to Linda Bordelon.

Jackie Hancock was the recipients of the Horticuluralist Excellence Award and two Grower's Choice Awards.Linda Bordelon was given the Horticulture Sweepstakes Award, the Educational Award, several Awards of Merit and the Arboreal Award.Carolyn Bounds received a Grower's Choice Award for her participation in the flower show.Carole Ann Chance, Designers Choice AwardJudy Matthews was presented with an Arboreal Award and an Award of Merit for her Japanese Maple Tree and Calla Lily .Jheri-Lynn McSwain displayed an "Air of Sophistication" as she took 1st place with her floral arrangement.

Shirley Owens was awarded 1st place for her flower arrangement in the "Artist's Audacity" exhibit.
