May 19, 2015 (Album1, Album2) - Center FFA members gathered to celebrate the past year at the Annual Center FFA Banquet held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the John D. Windham Civic Center.
The FFA Creed was recited by Whitlee Reed, Megan Dunn, and Gaby Casteneda. A special guest speaker at the event was Cullen Reeves, Texas FFA State Vice-President for the Area 9 Association. Reeves also just finished in his freshman year at Texas A&M University. He congratulated them and said, "Where ever you are going, it's going to be great, because you are involved in an organization and your part of a community that really supports you in everything you are doing." He expressed how great it is to see a community come out and support a chapter which was evident by the crowd attending the banquet. Reeves ended his speech with a quote from Les Brown, "You have to believe that you are the one capable of changing your life."
Several special awards were presented during the evening program. Madison McMillan was presented the Star Greenhand award. Whitlee Reed was presented the Star Chapter Farmer award. Top Hand awards were presented to Kamden Lucas and Andres Leon. The DeKalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award was presented to Alec Lucas.
Kelly Lucas, a community member with exceptional service to FFA, was recognized for all she has done for the Center FFA program over the past year and was honored with an Honorary Chapter Degree.
Among the seniors, Blue and Gold awards were presented to Taighen Mathews and Kamden Lucas. The Gilbert Link Memorial Scholarship recipient was announced to be Taighen Mathews and the Claude Lucas Scholarship presented for the first time was announced to be received by Kamden Lucas.
To end the banquet, the new officers for the 2015-16 year were announced to be Whitlee Reed - President, Nate Morris - Vice President, Madison McMillan - Secretary, Emma Locke - Treasurer, Megan Dunn - Reporter, Kaden LaRock - Sentinel, Konner Windham - Community Service Committee Chair, Zachary Fausett - Fundraising Committee Chair, Lexi Moody - Community Service Committee Vice-Chair, and Gaby Castaneda - Fundraising Committee Chair. Whitlee Reed was also announced to be the 2015-2016 Pineywoods District Officer holding the position of reporter.
