July 6, 2015 (Album1, Album2, Album3, Album4) - The 2015 Timpson Frontier Days was held on July 2-5, 2015 and the main events were held on Saturday, July 4. A variety of activities were held throughout the day with some new additions. The day opened with the traditional parade and this year the parade was announced by Tracy Broadway and Joyce Moore as floats passed the main event tent. Grand Marshal of the parade was Robin Connell.
Several events were held immediately following the parade including a pet show, car show, bicycle show, washer tournament and opening ceremonies. Several pets were brought to the festivities to participate in the pet show and were judged by Marsha Tomlinson and Tracy Lee.
In the horse division there were four entries and the awards are as follows: 1st place, Brittany Lee; 2nd place, Caesyn Lee; 3rd place Chris Lee; and 4th place Izzy Webb.
The 12-and-Under Dog division was won by Natalie Arvelo with her dog Bo and 2nd place went to Caitlyn Madden with her dog Paris. The 13-and-Over Dog division was won by Darian Hutto with her dog Rebel and 2nd place went to Kristen Lee with her dog Buger.
One division applied to several species of animals and the winners are as follows: Chris Lee won Longest Tail with his horse Bulley; Natalie Arvelo won Shortest Tail and Most Spots with her dog Bo; Darien Hutto won Longest Ears with her dog Rebel; and Caesyn Lee won Most Unusual with his goat Joey. Caesyn Lee won the Other division with his goat Joey.
Dressed the Cutest division winner was Caitlyn Madden with her dog Paris; 2nd place went to Darian Hutto with her dog Rebel; and 3rd place went to Natalie Arvelo with her dog Bo.
Young cyclists rode through the parade and at its completion parked their rides at the office of Jerry and Patty Wood, who judged the bicycles. Each bicycle was patriotically decorated for the parade. The winner of the competition and receiving $100 was Molly Wise; 2nd place and $50 went to Caitlyn Madden; a 3rd place three-way-tie included Natalie Arvelo, Xander Stephens and Bailey Shaddix who each received $25.
Parade float winners were announced and 1st place went to the Timpson High School Cheerleader float; 2nd place went to the Timpson High School Twirler float; and 3rd place went to the Our Town Times float.
State Representative Chris Paddie was present for the opening ceremonies to announce seven Cowboys of the Year and present them with proclamations from the state senate and Senator Robert Nichols. Those cowboys include: Boo Klein, of Center; Franklin Hairgrove, of Timpson; Morris Brown, of Joaquin; Roland Cross, of Tenaha; Robert Williams, of Gary; Gary W. Channing, of Garrison; and Nick Greslom, of Mt. Enterprise.
The car show had a large attendance which included vehicles of all different makes and models that lined Austin Street. A multitude of door prizes were handed out and David Pate announced those winners as well as the winners of the car show. In the truck division the awards are as follows: Jerry Buechler, 1st place; Eric Graves, 2nd place; and Robert Jensen, 3rd place.
Car division award recipients are as follows: Grant McDonald, 1st place; Ryan Mackey, 2nd place; and Mike Cassidy, 3rd place. Velinda and Ryan Graves won the trailer division. A $500 cash drawing was held at the end of the show and Grant McDonald was the winner.
Six teams participated in a washer pitching tournament which Tracy Rucker judged. Following several hours of competition the winners were Allen Ross and Doye Cantrell who received $100. Taking 2nd place in the tournament were Doug YBarbo and Todd Steward, and they received $30.
Another new addition to Frontier Days this year was a greased pig competition. This included three different age groups 5-7, 8-10, and 11-13. The winner of the 5-7 competition was Bailey Shaddix; 8-10 winner, Jason Samford; and 11-13 winner, Sam Samford.
Frontier Days final events included performances by Timpson cheerleaders and twirlers, singing from Curtis Daniel, a laser light show, singing by Charlie Robison and the annual cake auction. There were a total of 25 cakes auctioned during the event and $7,625 was raised, which goes to the Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce for future Frontier Day Funding.
