David's Daily Devotion for Apr. 21

April 21, 2022 - Good Morning!  It’s Thursday, April 21.

We continue our focus today on favorite stories from the New Testament.  This morning’s story is about one of the miracles of Jesus - The Feeding of the Five Thousand.

This miracle is the only miracle of Christ that is recorded in all four gospels - with the exception, of course, of the miracle we celebrated last Sunday - the resurrection.  In this beloved story, a tremendous crowd has followed Jesus and they’re getting hungry!  The Bible tells us that there were 5000 men, and when you factor in the women and children, the number multiplies to a multitude.

It appears that the only one in this huge crowd who prepared for lunch was a little boy with five loaves and two fishes.  Jesus took this meager meal and miraculously multiplied it until all the many thousands were fed.  And there were 12 baskets of food left over!

Jesus used “the least of these” - a child - to do a mighty work.  And there’s a lesson there for us today.  Even though our talents, our resources, our offerings may seem small and insignificant, God can take them, transform them, and use them to bless.  What do you have to give?  What are your “five loaves and two fishes”?  He will take your gift, your obedience, your faithfulness, and He will do a mighty work!

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
