David's Daily Devotion for October 11

October 11, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, October 11.

Once a month, the adult choir of First Baptist Church of Center... goes caroling! On a Wednesday evening, instead of rehearsing, the group travels to the front yard of a shut-in and shares songs and encouragement. The choir members are a blessing, and they are blessed.

Caroling is typically thought of as a Christmas tradition. The practice of going out to share holiday cheer with neighbors is over a thousand years old. But, in the beginning, it wasn't a musical moment. It was called "wassailing". That's an ancient word meaning "be well", and that's the shouted greeting that the roving groups would share. The grateful neighbors would often share warm drinks with the visitors, a drink that came to be called wassail.

Tonight, our choir will be sharing music and good wishes, gospel songs and encouragement.

Ephesians 5:19 - "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord."

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
