David's Daily Devotion for October 26

October 26, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, October 26.

Here's a very specific question about heaven. What will it sound like? Well, I think I may have gotten a small taste of that sound yesterday.

There's a Mennonite community here in deep East Texas, and yesterday they assembled at my church for a wedding. The ceremony included eight congregational hymns. The 300 voices, unaccompanied by musical instruments, and in perfect four-part harmony, filled our sanctuary. The sound was ethereal. It was angelic. It was heavenly.

The Bible paints the picture of heaven only in broad strokes, and that includes the element of sound. Isaiah 6 describes the sound of angels shouting "Holy, Holy, Holy" in heaven. Luke 15 tells us of the rejoicing in heaven over a sinner who repents. And Acts 2 speaks of the sound of a "rushing, mighty wind" from heaven, when the Holy Spirit came.

God has left the details of heaven, and its sounds, for that day when we awaken in Glory. But I believe that, yesterday, I may have gotten a small taste.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
