NWS Weather Statement Includes Shelby County, Surrounding Areas

January 12, 2024 - Strong thunderstorms will impact De Soto, Red River, northwestern Natchitoches and Sabine Parishes, southeastern Panola, eastern Shelby, northeastern San Augustine and northwestern Sabine counties through 6:15am.

At 5:10am CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Stonewall to Bland Lake. Movement was east at 45 mph.

Hazard: Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.

Locations impacted include: Center, Mansfield, Milam, Many, San Augustine, Coushatta, Zwolle, Logansport, Joaquin, Converse, Shelbyville, Patroon, Bland Lake, Neuville, Oak Grove, Pleasant Hill, Martin, Huxley, South Mansfield, and Hall Summit.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 11am CST for northwestern Louisiana, and eastern and northeastern Texas.
