William Barnes *** (Updated)

William Tate Barnes - Valedictorian

Tate was born in Timpson, Texas, to his parents Dr. Dawn and Trey Barnes. His grandparents are Russell and June Barnes, and Billy Bob and Donna Thomason. He transferred to Timpson ISD in the seventh grade and became active with the FFA chapter, and the ag department became his second home. He is excited to go to Texas A&M University to study animal science, where he can expand his knowledge of beef production and the agricultural industry as a whole. Tate was raised on a commercial cow-calf operation where he also raised registered brahman cattle. Growing up on the ranch didn't just shape who he is—it also guided his career choice. From the moment he could walk, Tate was immersed in the world of agriculture, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of farm life. As he grew older, his passion for agriculture and beef production deepened, and it became clear to him that he wanted to make a career out of it. In the future, Tate plans on coming back to Shelby County to continue to contribute to the county's beef production and Ag industry.
