David’s Daily Devotion for May 15

May 15, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, May 15.

Four years ago, this week, our church was preparing for a very important Sunday. We were opening our worship center back up to the public after the Covid pandemic shutdown. What a long, strange trip that had been. During that time, like most churches, we were broadcast only. A "skeleton crew" of about a dozen people would come to the church each Sunday morning to send out a Bible lesson and a worship service.

There were lots of other "new normal" experiences during the shutdown. I was part of a Zoom wedding, a remote Lord's Supper, front yard concerts, and a drive-by anniversary party, just to name a few. It was a surreal time, a challenging time. Oh, and one other thing came out of that world-wide quarantine . . . this Daily Devotion.

I started sending these little thoughts four years ago in an attempt to stay connected with the volunteers of my church - about 40 emails. Even after we came back together face-to-face, these devotions continued to go out, the email list growing to several hundred. And then, three years ago, our area news outlet, Shelby County Today, began to post David's Daily Devotions on their website.

Today's devotion is #1,172. It has been a wonderful experience for me, and I hope it has been a blessing for you.  To God be all the glory, honor, and praise. What will the next four years bring? Who knows! We can only claim the promise that He gives us in Jeremiah 29:11-12.

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Meet you back here tomorrow - for #1,173!
