May 20, 2024 - Shelbyville High School Academic UIL students competed at the 2024 Academic UIL State Meet at UT-Austin on May 14th and 15th. Shelbyville is the first runner-up to the 2024 Conference AA UIL State Academic Championship.
State Champion Number Sense Team coached by Cole Harrison
In Number Sense, Kason Parker placed second as an individual. Malachi Sierra placed sixth as an individual. The State Number Sense Team: Kason Parker, Malachi Sierra, Aiden Swindle, and Ethan Jackson is the 2024 State Champion. This is the first time in Shelbyville High School’s history that they have won an Academic State Team Championship. Number Sense is coached by Cole Harrison.
Speech Team placed 2nd and is coached by Emily Sowell
In Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Kennedy McArthur placed second. Kaden Sims placed third in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Alana Fuller was fifth in Prose Interpretation. The State Speech Team placed second with the difference of only two points between them and first place. State Speech Team members: Travis Caporali, Maddie Lout, Kennedy McArthur, Kaden Sims, and Alana Fuller. Debate and Prose Interpretation are coached by Emily Sowell.
