Southview Circle Scene of Two-vehicle Crash

 

May 20, 2024 - Southview Circle (U.S. 96) in Center was the scene of a two-vehicle crash that sent one driver to the hospital after one driver attempted to bypass the flow of traffic.

Officers and other emergency personnel were dispatched on May 16, 2024, to the scene in the 1500 block of Southview Circle at 3:13pm.

According to the Center Police Department, a black 2019 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Morgan Wilson, 30, of Longview was southbound when she noticed a line of cars in front of her, and without reducing speed, passed those vehicles on the improved shoulder.

At that time a grey 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Billy Fults, 61, of Joaquin was northbound and attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway.

The Blazer, which was still traveling on the shoulder, struck the truck head on and continued into the southbound ditch where it struck several mailboxes and then a culvert before spinning around and coming to rest facing north. The truck remained at the entrance to the private driveway, facing south.

Fults was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of his injuries. Wilson refused treatment at the scene.

No citations were issued at the time of the crash.
