May 8, 2025 - Shelbyville High School introduces the graduating class of 2025. Commencement ceremonies will take place on Friday, May 23rd at 7pm. The ceremony will be held in the main gym.
The Shelbyville High School Class of 2025 Valedictorian is Carsey Lovell. Her high school accomplishments include: A Honor Roll, Distinguished Honor Graduate Program; Mastered all EOC Assessments; Junior Chamber of Commerce - 4 years; Young Ambassador 12th grade; Future Farmers of America - 4 years; Student Class Representative: Vice-President 2024-25; Student Class Representative: President 2021-22; UIL Calculator - Regional Qualifier 2024; UIL Calculator - Regional Qualifier 2025; SHS 2023-24 ACT Benchmark Beater Club; Varsity Cheerleader - 4 years; Cheer UIL State Spirit Competition 8th place 2024; Cheer UIL State Spirit Competition 10th place 2023; Academic All State Cheerleader 2025; UCA All-American Cheerleader 2024; UCA All-American Cheerleader 2025; Track - 2 years; 2022 State Bronze Medalist in the 4x200 relay; 2022 District, Area, and Regional Champions in Track; 2025 Regional Qualifier in the 4x400 relay; Basketball - 2 years; Bi-District Champions in Basketball in 2021-22, and Honorable Mention; Varsity Softball - 4 years; 2023 Softball - First Team All-District, Regional Finalist in the State Playoffs; 2024 Softball - All District Catcher of the Year, Regional Semi-Finalist in the State Playoffs; 2025 Softball - Bi-District Champions, Area Champions; Volleyball - 4 years; Volleyball 2022 - 2nd Team All District, Academic All District; Volleyball 2023 - First Team All-District, Academic All District; Volleyball 2024 - First Team All-District, Academic All District; Volleyball Area Finalist in 2024; and Superlative: "Teachers Pet" 2025.
Carsey will be attending Texas A&M University in College Station to pursue a degree in Sports Medicine.
The Class of 2025 Salutatorian is Elizabeth Marin. During her time at Shelbyville High School, Elizabeth was an Academic Honor Roll student for all four years and received the National Hispanic Recognition Program Award from the College Board in her junior year. She volunteered with the Junior Chamber of Commerce for three years and served as a Young Ambassador in her senior year. Additionally, she was a member of the UIL Literary Criticism, Spelling, and Speech and Debate Teams. In Literary Criticism and Spelling, she was a regional competitor for three years. In Lincoln-Douglas Debate, she was a two-time bronze medalist at the regional competition and advanced to the state competition twice.
Elizabeth has played the clarinet in the band for five years and has been appointed the Clarinet Section Leader for three consecutive years. She received the Most Outstanding Freshman and Junior awards and distinguished herself as a member of the ATSSB All-Region Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. She also competed in the ATSSB All-Area competition for two years. Each year, she participated in the UIL Region Solo and Ensemble Contest, earning superior ratings on three solos and ensembles; her three ensembles advanced to the state competition.
In addition to her academic and musical achievements, Elizabeth was a member of the Shelbyville Strutters Drill Team for three years. She led the team as the Right Lieutenant for two consecutive years.
Elizabeth will attend the University of Texas at Austin in the fall to pursue a degree in kinesiology. After earning her bachelor’s, she plans to attend graduate school to become an occupational therapist.
