Today is a momentous day on the calendar. Why? Well, for lots of reasons. On this day in history - just like the other 364 days of the year - there were countless great deeds done, innumerable famous people involved, and legendary doings accomplished. Here’s just a small sample of why May 20 is a momentous day...
- In 1609 William Shakespeare first published his sonnets
- In 1873 Levi Strauss invented blue jeans
- In 1927 Charles Lindbergh was the first to fly alone across the Atlantic
- In 1932 Amelia Earhart was the first woman to do it
- In 1946 Cher was born
- In 1506 Columbus died
And on May 20, 1310, somebody first made a left and a right shoe
Wow. That’s a great day in history. May 20, 2025 has a lot to live up to. But the words of Psalm 118:24 place today right in the middle of all those momentous moments - “This is the day that the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!
