October 30, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, October 30.
A new Dr. Seuss is coming out! A new book by the famed children’s writer and illustrator, Theodor Geisel. That’s great news for children of all ages, for all of us who grew up with classics like “Green Eggs and Ham”, “The Cat in the Hat”, and “Hop on Pop”. Great news, indeed. But also surprising news - since Geisel died 35 years ago. It seems that the manuscript, “Sing the Fifty States”, a patriotic piece, was discovered earlier this year, just in time to be published next summer for America’s 250th birthday celebration.
Last year another discovery was made, a musical piece for string trio titled “Serenade in C”. When it was first performed last fall, at the opera house in Leipzig, Germany, a line stretched several blocks with people trying to buy a ticket. Why the tremendous interest in this new piece? Well, it wasn’t new at all, but was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who had been dead for over two centuries. Found by music archaeologists, the new/old piece finally made it to the concert stage.
Messages from the grave. Inspiration from the great beyond. Truths from the past. The voices of the Bible, silenced over two millennia ago, still speak to us this morning. Characters like Moses and David and Solomon, like Luke and Paul and John, are waiting for us there in the Good Book. Waiting to impart ancient wisdom that they gained from their walks with God, wisdom that can lead us on our paths today.
Isaiah 40:8 - “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God endures forever.”
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
