Broadway Announces Candidacy for Re-Election as Justice of the Peace Pct. 5

November 11, 2025 - I have filed the necessary paperwork to seek re-election as Shelby County Justice of the Peace, Pct. 5 in the upcoming March 3, 2026 Republican Primary.

The past seven years in office has been a wonderful opportunity serving the citizens of the Timpson area, as well as Shelby County. Your trust in me to hold the office, carry-out the J.P. duties in a fair, non-partisan manner, and represent you, has been an honor and pleasure. I look forward to the continuing to provide assistance, compassion and service to Precinct 5, and this county.

In September of this year, I was appointed by the Shelby County Commissioners’ Court to be the interim justice of the peace in Pct. 4, serving the Tenaha area. I had served in the same capacity for several months in 2023, when the position was vacated.

Since taking office in January 2019, I’ve completed over 300 hours of continuing education through the Texas Justice Court Training Center, in addition to training from the Office of Court Administration, Justices of the Peace & Constables Association of Texas, East Texas Justices of the Peace and Constables Association, and Texas Justice Court Judges Association.

This training, and hands-on experience assisting citizens daily with Class C misdemeanor cases punishable by fine only, landlord and tenant disputes, small claim and debt issues, in addition to conducting death inquest, jail magistration, and performing marriage ceremonies, to name a few of the duties, has me ready to continue as your justice of the peace.

I look forward to further serving the citizens of the Timpson area, and Shelby County.

Please exercise your right to vote, March 3, 2026.
