January 14, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, January 14.
On this day, in 1875, Albert Schweitzer was born. He died in 1965 at the age of 90. So, what did Schweitzer accomplish in his 90 years on Earth? OK, here we go! Are you sitting down? Albert Schweitzer was a musician, scientist, writer, architect, engineer, inventor, medical doctor, theologian, and missionary. Whew! I need to get up off my couch and make something of myself.
Schweitzer was a world-class organist and also designed pipe organs. He was an authority on the music of Bach. He spent most of his adult life as a missionary to Africa, where he built a hospital. His classic book, “Quest of the Historical Jesus”, was a best-seller. And in 1952 he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
Schweitzer also wrote several books about the Apostle Paul, another “renaissance” man. God did amazing things through amazing people like Paul and Albert Schweitzer, like Mother Teresa and Billy Graham. But what’s even more amazing is that God chooses to work through ordinary folks like me and you. We may not be amazing like Albert Schweitzer, but we serve an amazing God.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
