April 24, 2026 - Candidates for City of Timpson and Timpson ISD School board attended a meet and greet event at the Community building in SoSo Park on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
The event was hosted by Timpson Masonic Lodge #437, and in addition to meeting the candidates a cake auction was held to raise funds for the lodge which presents scholarships each year to Timpson High School graduates.
Lodge members Tuffy Green and Danny Arvello ran the event and Green acted as both moderator for the candidates and auctioneer for the baked goods being offered to the highest bidder.
Anyone interested in the election was able to hear the candidates state why they were seeking election and what they might do to help better the community through the office they are seeking.
During the event, Green announced that Timpson Mayor Debra Smith was unable to attend due to a family medical emergency.
Candidates present to speak to the community included Timpson ISD school board candidates Jimmy Metcalf, and John Grigsby; Timpson City Council candidate Penny Ramsey and Timpson Mayor candidate Cedric Grace.
As of this article, early voting is still running until April 28. Election day will be Saturday, May 2, 2026.
