June 4, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, June 4.
On this day, in 1937, author Robert Fulghum was born. In 1986, 40 years ago, he published a little book that sold 17 million copies, stayed on the bestseller list for two years, and has been translated into 27 languages. I’ve got a copy of it in my library. It’s titled “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”
The book is a series of clever and humorous essays, and the title comes from the first essay, where Fulghum lists things we all learned as children - Share / Play fair / Put things back where you found them / Clean up your own mess / Say you’re sorry when you hurt someone - and reminds us that these are good life lessons at any age. Well, here’s a spiritual twist on Robert Fulghum’s title. I don’t think he would mind, since in addition to being a writer, he’s also a minister.
